Collins Living Learning Center | Art and Community
L210 | 10798 | Yara Cluver

This course will explore the relationship between art, community, and
service. We will examine artists who have considered community in
their art making, discuss theories on education that focus on the
teacher/pupil relationship, consider our democratic societal framework
and the role the arts play within that, and collaborate with children
at the Bloomington Project School. IU students will work in groups to
make plans for community-based art projects to undertake with the
children during a ten-week period that we meet at the school. The
overall goal is to explore how the arts are integral to a healthy and
thriving society and to impact a younger generation of citizens when
working within this unique charter school setting.
