History and Philosophy Of Science | COGNITION AND SENSATION FROM DESCARTES TO THE ENLIGHTENMENT
X705 | 29189 | Domineco Bertoloni Meli

This course deals with themes at the intersection between the
history of philosophy and physiology: I plan to investigate how
understanding of the brain, nervous system, and organs
of perception changed from the 17th to the 18th centuries. Often
philosophical perspectives reflected and affected those changes; we
will discuss those interactions through some key figures in the
history of philosophy of the period in question. The course is
intended for historians and philosophers of science, as well as
students from philosophy and cognitive science with historical
interests.
