This course introduces students to the theories underlying and
actors orchestrating humanityís interaction with the natural
environment.  Students will learn how researchers from a variety of
academic disciplines are studying humankindís influence on the
earth, its resources, and one another.  They will then be asked to
apply that research in everyday political situations.  During the
class students will participate in economic experiments and
simulations, interact with climate scientists and local government
leaders, and help assess pressing social-environmental issues.  To
