Slavic Languages and Literatures | Russian for Reading
R491 | 5942 | Stern-Gottschalk

This course is open to undergraduates only. Undergraduates must have prior consent of instructor before registering for the course.

R491 is the first course in the Russian for Reading sequence. Both
courses in the sequence combine to take students from "zero Russian"
to a reading knowledge of general subjects and a specialized reading
knowledge of material in the student's own academic specialty. While
R491 covers recognition (and very limited production) of the basic
grammatical structures of Russian, R492 completes the material covered
in the fall course and then introduces the students to texts of common
interest and texts specific to the studentsí academic work. Both sets
of texts involve a fair degree of grammatical complexity.
