P: S141 or consent of the instructor.  Understanding of human
development and functioning at all system levels is the basis for
social work practice. This course emphasizes the interaction between
the person and family, groups, and communities. The course covers
major theories of individual functioning, life cycle development, and
the family context. It also explores inequality, discrimination, and
differential access to opportunities for diverse populations and their
impact on development.
