About the Instructor

This course is intended to continue acquainting students with all aspects of the grammar of modern Uzbek. It will also emphasize translation skills from Uzbek into English through advanced readings in journalistic and literary prose focusing on the daily life and culture of the Uzbek people.

Prerequisite: U171-U172 or U353-U354 or the equivalent.

Texts: A Chrestomathy of Modern Literary Uzbek (new Chrestomathy for English-speaking students); Modern Literary Uzbek, Part II, Bloomington, 1996; and additional handouts.

Exams: Midterm and final examinations.

Days and Time: Monday, Wednesday and Friday 11:15-12:05.
