Assignments: Students are expected to do the weekly assignments. Additionally, they are asked
to keep a journal to be exchanged with the instructor. This journal is important, because it is an
interactive exercise. Students should write on a tangible topic, so that we can exchange some
conversation on paper. You are allowed to bring 3 late assignments, if there are no later than
one class. You will lose 2% of your grade for additional missing assignments.
Attendance and Participation: Students are allowed up to 3 absences which can be used for
any illnesses, emergencies or any private business. Two percentage points from the total grade
will be subtracted for each additional absences. If students miss a quiz or exam, they will not
have a chance to take it again, unless it is due to a health problem.
Conversation Hours: As it became a traditional gathering for the Turkish students and learners
of Turkish, we will keep the weekly Turkish Conversation Hours. Starting on the January 21,
1997, Turkish Table will take place bi-weekly at Runcible Spoon Cafe between 4-6 p.m.
Students should plan to come at least 3 conversation hours in order to accumulate the necessary
percentage for their semester grades.
