COAS INTENSIVE WRITING SECTION.

This course is designed to help you to become a confident reader
of a wide range of fictional narratives. We will begin with short
stories (by Joyce, Hemingway, Flannery O'Connor, Grace Paley) and
then move on to novels (by Austen, Nabokov, Marquez, Ellison, and
Annie Proulx). I will ask you to write short response papers
every week as well as longer essays every three weeks.
