Topic: Buildings and the Environment.
The relationship between architecture and the environment at different points in history
and in various parts of the world will be the focus of this course. Students will analyze first the
natural conditions that determine basic building forms, then the cultural forces that add
complexity to evolving built environments, and finally conflicting modern attitudes towards nature
and culture in architecture.
