Advanced Mongolian I

About the Instructor


The objectives of this course are to: 1) Develop abilities to speak, listen, read, and write idiomatic Mongolian on a wide range of topics. 2) To become familiar with more classical forms in Mongolian and with literary usage. 3) To improve fluency by giving oral presentations and participating in class discussions. 4) To practice writing by keeping a written journal. 5) To improve pronunciation through in-class practice activities. 6) To begin practice in formal translation (and transcription where necessary). 7) To survey themes in modern Mongolian literature and explore how they reflects social and cultural changes.

Tests and exams: There will be a full period quiz at the completion of every lesson, as well as a mid-term and final examination.

Days and Time: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9:05-9:55.
