This is an introductory course in data analysis. Our emphasis will be on
the application of quantitative methods to the study of crime and criminal
justice. The main objective of the course is to prepare you to objectively
evaluate and use quantitative research in crime and criminal justice. In
addition, we will introduce you to data analysis with SPSS, a popular
This course will be organized around two weekly lectures and a weekly
discussion section. At each lecture I will discuss the assigned readings.
During the Discussion sections, students will complete computer assignments
that further illustrate the week's topic.
