This is an introductory course concerned with the physical, institutional,
and cultural settings of the southeast Asian nations as well as their
urbanization and economic development. Geography of Southeast Asia is
presented in a lecture/discussion format.  The course readings are drawn
from a variety of sources including SOUTHEAST ASIA: A SYSTEMATIC GEOGRAPHY
and SOUTH EAST ASIAN DEVELOPMENT.  Course requirements include two exams, a
midterm and final, and a research paper on a current issue or problem in
the region.  G340 fulfills the Social Inquiry distribution requirement in
COAS.  G340 fulfills the SHSI distribution requirement.
