Hellenistic Greece is a senior seminar and intensive writing course. We
will discuss the conquests of Alexander and the changed world that
followed these conquests-great kingdoms replace the Greek city-state, new
forms of worship, new gender roles, new forms in art and literature arise
to make life faster and more precarious. This is the best parallel to our
own age that the ancient world offers. Readings in three paperbacks,
several Web page assignments, four papers, no final.
