COURSE PREREQUISITES:
Brown belt (3rd Kup) or higher technical level in Taekwondo or permission of
instructor.

CLASS MEETING:
Two 50 minute periods per week

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Designed to be a taekwondo black belt preparation class and to give students
an increased under-standing and an appreciation of the art of Taekwondo
(Korean Karate).  Content emphasis involves advanced applications of basic
and advanced Taekwondo techniques, one step sparring forms, and an
introduction to free fighting.  Students should achieve the technical level
of a red belt (2nd Kup) or higher in Taekwondo by finals.

GRADING:
Your grade in this class will be determined as follows:

1)	One paper   (30%)
2)	Two skills exams   (70%)
3)	Attendance will not be a factor in determining your grade unless you
miss more than three (3) times during the semester.

TEXTBOOK:
Burns, Donald, J.  An Introduction to Karate for Student and Teacher,
Kendall/Hunt, 1977.  Copies can be purchased at Collegiate Copies on Third
Street.

EQUIPMENT:
Each student is required to have a martial arts uniform.

ATTENDANCE:
Students are allowed a maximum of three (3) absences.  Upon a fourth
absence, the student has three (3) options:
1)	receive a grade of F;
2)	officially withdraw from the class;
3)	follow an appeal procedure through your instructor and/or the
Elective Program Coordinator.
