PREREQUISITES:
P495 is open only to Physical Education Teacher Preparation majors; Juniors
and Seniors only.
CLASS MEETING:
One 50 minute period per week, plus arranged Lab period.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Pre-practice teaching experience. Students assist and help teach activities
in the Elective Physical Education Program. Students must have had a course
in teaching that activity before being allowed to assist. Course may be
repeated.
CLASS PATTERN:
Initial meeting with coordinator. Students are then assigned to assist an
associate instructor or other faculty member in a class. Student is
expected to attend all class periods.
GRADING PROCEDURES:
Grades are assigned by the supervising instructor based on criteria
negotiated with the student. Some requirements may include keeping a
journal, developing a portfolio of lesson and unit plans, and having
responsibility for 1-2 instructional periods.
