Rock Climbing

This course meets Oct. 1-3. Precourse meetings are scheduled for Sept. 22
and 29. Course meets at Daniel Boone National Forest.
Description: Voice commands, belay techniques, footwork on rock, climbing
techniques, climbing safety, anchor systems, and introduction to outdoor
leadership pertaining to rock climbing.
Required Book List: Handouts and books from IU Outdoor Adventures Resource
Library will be provided.
Summary of Assignments: 1.) Journal of new experiences, skills and teaching
styles used by leaders, 2.) 3-page paper on acquired skills and know how,
3.) 25-question written test, and 4.) Hard skills demonstration.
Additional Information: This course is limited to 8 students. An additional
fee is required (includes transportation, gear, gym admission and food).
