This course meets first eight weeks.
Description: This course covers the basics necessary for flower and edible
identification. We also discuss wildflower folklore, wild edibles and their
uses, natural dyes, medicinal and poisonous plants.
Required Text: Peterson Field Guide Series - Wildflowers.
Summary of Assignments: Weekend at Bradford Woods, group project, recipe
book-using native natural ingredients, natural dye cards-reference cards for
plants used as dye, natural expression-creative use of course information,
midterm and final.
Additional Information: This course requires one weekend at Bradford Woods
(September 18-20). Food and lodging fee extra.
