This course introduces techniques of analysis and methods of argumentation
underlying generative phonological theory. The course treats these
elements from the viewpoint of more articulated phonological structures,
as represented by autosegmental phonology, metrical phonology, feature
geometry and underspecification theory. Apart from the readings, the
majority of the work for the course will involve phonological problem
solving and argumentation.
