This is an introductory course in Modern Standard Arabic which aims at helping each student gain a
sound initial understanding in the areas of speaking, listening, reading, and writing.  The approach in this
course places great emphasis on learning aurally, mostly through video tapes. By the end of this course
the student will have acquired and assimilated a basic working vocabulary and some fundamental
grammar structures enabling the student to both understand and form basic sentences. The student will
also have a firm foundation in reading, writing, and speaking skills.
