S100 Introduction to Sociology (3 CR)
3833 12:20-1:10 MWF BH304

This is an introductory course to the study of Sociology.  The
course is divided into three sections.  In the first section,
an overview of theoretical perspectives and research methods
used by Sociologists will be examined.  The second section will
look at the various organizational structures and institutions
of various societies.  A special emphasis will be placed on:
the family, education, religion, politics, the economy and
social inequalities.  Finally, the third section will focus on
development in terms of globalization and localization
processes.  At the end of the course, you should have a basic
understanding of Sociology as a discipline, as well the
organization of individual societies and how those are
structurally linked within a larger global context.
