COURSE FORMERLY VARIATIONS IN HUMAN SEXUALITY I

This course will explore a number of topics relating to the
human sexual experience, focusing on the ways in which beliefs
about sex are socially constructed.  Many aspects of our
society influence our perceptions of sex, and understanding
these sources of beliefs and feelings will aid in the
understanding of sexual diversity.  Topics will include
cross-cultural views of sex, processes of defining deviant
behavior, biological and psychological theories of sex, gender
roles, sex in the media, sex through the life course, and
sexual orientation.
