OPEN TO UNDERGRADUATES ONLY

This course will explore race and ethnic relations, mainly
within the historical and contemporary context of the United
States. We will begin with a discussion of the differences
between race and ethnicity and the meanings and implications
that these concepts have in our society. We will then move
beyond an examination of prejudice and discrimination and
towards a more general understanding of how race and ethnicity
impact the lives of all people, and inevitably shape the way we
see and act in our world.
