The goal of this seminar is to discuss important aspects of second
language acquisition in children.  This will include areas such as
language and society, simultaneous and sequential bilingual development,
factors that affect acquisition and language maintenance.  The class will
also cover topics concerning the assessment and treatment of atypical
second language learners.  Although it is a general course, most of the
examples and cases to be presented will entail Spanish-English bilinguals
and bilingualism in the United States.
