Anatomy | Human Tissue Biology (4 cr.)
A464 | ALL | Mescher

This course will provide undergraduates with an indepth understanding of the biology of human
tissues and organs at the cellular and molecular level . Emphasis will be on the normal structural
and functional relationships of adult tissues, but will include certain aspects of embryonic tissue
formation and medically important tissue abnormalities. After discussing the molecular basis of
fundamental types of tissues, we will consider each of the organ systems, including the nervous
system, immune system, endocrine system and reproductive systems. Developmental aspects of
certain specialized tissues such as bone, teeth, and blood cells will be covered in greater detail.
