At the moment I am still juggling several ideas for a central topic for this course, but the readings will span at least three hundred years of British literature, and represent several genres. The course will carry a heavy reading load; students will be expected to do all reading in advance of discussion. Because the reading load will be heavy, the writing load will be lighter; grading for the course will depend on class participation and several examinations.
