Study of books suitable for use in junior high and high school classrooms. The emphasis will be on fiction, both contemporary fiction and some of the canonical works traditionally used in schools. We will also talk about some of the kinds of reading young adults do outside school, some of the selections common in widely-used school anthologies of literature, and some other kinds of writing; collections of poetry, books about science and contemporary social and political issues written for young adults.
