This course will examine the paintings of Peter Paul Rubens and
Rembrandt van Rijn, arguably the greatest artists of the Flemish
and Dutch Baroque.  With seventeenth-century Antwerp and
Amsterdam as setting, our primary focus will be the great
commissions and international acclaim of Rubens, contrasted with
Rembrandt's more personal, sensitive means of expression.
