This course will focus on some notorious episodes of medical science and the
use of humans for experimental purposes. The infamous Tuskegee Syphilis
Study, the US Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission, the testing of early polio
virus vaccines, evan Louis Pasteur's work with rabies are some of the
examples we will study. This is an introductory history course, but it will
definitely help to have a working knowledge of basic biology. The approach
to assignments will be within the guidelines of COAS intensive writing
requirements.
