Geography 109 (Weather and Climate). This course provides an introduction
to the physical processes underlying weather and climate, and to the
fundamental skills (mathematical and interpretive) used in environmental
science. Topics covered include energy exchanges and heating of the
atmosphere; atmospheric motion; humidity, clouds and precipitation;
weather systems, fronts and air masses; severe storms and climate change.
Topical issues of ozone depletion and human induced global warming will be
discussed. Lectures and Laboratory (which include computer exercises,
collection of meteorological data in the field, and problem sets).
