CLASS MEETING:
One 50 minute period two times per week for entire semester.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
To utilize, improve upon, review, and learn the strokes taught in class in
addition; but not limited
to diving, treading water, establishing a level of endurance and other
aquatic skills relevant to this
course.  Also, to demonstrate the proper use of various assists and the
proper use of the
equipment around the pool area.

ATTENDANCE:
Students are allowed a maximum of three (3) absences.  Upon a fourth absence
the student has
three (3) options:
1.  receive a grade of F;
2.  officially withdraw from the course;
3.  follow an appeal procedure through your instructor and/or the Elective
Program Coordinator.

IF excused absences, student must show written notification from doctor's
office or the like, or if
an unfortunate mishap occurs, the student must notify the instructor as soon
as possible in writing.
(Instructor will make judgement calls when necessary on excused absences)

CLOTHING ATTIRE:
Men can only wear swim shorts and Women can only wear one-piece swimsuits.
NO bikini's
allowed.  Bring your own towel.  OPTIONAL:  Swim caps, goggles, and aqua
socks are your
decision.

HEALTH AWARENESS:
Due to vigorous and aerobic activities, those individuals with any type of a
health concern, should
notify the instructor IMMEDIATELY before entering the water!!!  NOTE:  Those
individuals
having intolerable pre-menstrual cramps or the like and/or for their beliefs
restrict them from
participation in the water, should notify the instructor that day of class.
HOWEVER:  You must
attend and observe class in the bleachers.  (This is not an excused
absence.)

GRADING POLICY:  The class is graded by the following:

Attendance                                         =    29 days
Stroke/Technique Mechanics              =      5 categories

Skills/Endurance                                 =      3
categories
Coordination                                      =      5
categories

Each number represents a letter, for every category one will receive a
number and at the end of
the course, all the numbers are added to determine the student's final
grade:

5 --- A             Attendance     5x29      =   145
4 --- B             Stroke/Techn.  5x5       =     25
3 --- C             Skills/Endur.  5x3         =     15
2 --- D             Coordination   5x5        =     25
1 --- F             (Max.)    TOTAL
Total points:               =   210

210-149   =    A
148-127   =    B
126-85     =    C
84-41       =    D
42-below   =    F

NOTE:     Increase in categories may increase

EMERGENCE ACTION PLAN (EAP)

In case of an emergency such as a fire, please go out the gray doors before
the Women's locker
room, then turn right and go down the hall post room #9 on the left and make
the left to the grass
area for roll call.  Instructions on other emergencies will be announced.
