PREREQUISITES:
E185 or other volleyball experience.

CLASS MEETING:
Meets one 50 minute period two times per week for entire semester.

ATTENDANCE:  Students are allowed a maximum of three (3) absences.  Upon a
fourth absence
the student has three (3) options:
1.  receive a grade of F;
2.  officially withdraw from the course;
3.  follow an appeal procedure through your instructor and/or the Elective
Program Coordinator.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Students shall become sufficiently skilled in volleyball technique to permit
them to consistently
execute advanced offensive and defensive techniques and strategies during
game play.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This class is designed for experienced volleyball players or quick learners.
Techniques for the
following skills will be taught in the first 2 weeks: pass, set, floater
serve, passing footwork,
attack, quick-sets, block, individual defense (including the dive), and the
jump-serve.  Much of the
class time will be spent playing tournament games.  Teams will focus on
different aspects
of the game during each match.  Several team defenses and offenses will be
used.  Read, commit,
stack and trap blocking will be taught and practiced.  Players will be
expected to specialize as a
setter, middle hitter/middle blocker or outside hitter/passer.  Drills will
be conducted daily.
Jump-training exercises will be included.

GRADING POLICY:
Grades will be determined from individual and team skills' test, active
participation and a written
exam.
