CLASS MEETING:
One 75 minute period two times per week

COURSE OBJECTIVE:
The purpose of this course is to expose the student to the discipline of
Sport
Sociology, to embark on a critical examination of American sport and to
analyze the interrelationship between sport and American culture.  A primary
objective is that students be cognizant of issues and concerns in American
sport.  Course organization will include lecture, discussion. panels and
videos.

REQUIRED TEXTBOOK:
Coakley, Jay, Sport in Society:  Issues and Controversies

COURSE EVALUATION:
1. There will be three examinations.  The final exam will be given during
finals
week.  Each exam will consist of fifty (50) multiple choice questions.
2.  The final grade will be based on an equal evaluation of the three
examinations.
