Permission of recognized organization advisor from the department or
athletic coach is required.

Description of course content: This course allows students to develop their
self leadership skills through student participation in
recreational/athletic/club activities sponsored and organized by campus
organizations. Through such opportunities, students learn how their
leadership capacity impacts their performance, as well as others with whom
they come in contact. The key to this experience is the student's
recognition and willingness to couple leisure activities to a learning model
that will enhance the individual's awareness and appreciation of self
leadership skills.

Required book list: Participant Leadership Development, by Richard F. Mull

Summary of assignments: Attend course orientation; read assigned reading
material; meet with the advisor/coach four times during the semester; open
book test based on the reading material; maintain a weekly journal of
participant leadership development; and write a two (2) page paper
describing the leadership development experience.
