P: J200, J201, J210. Newspaper Editing is a course which will assist
students in further development of writing and editing skills for print
media, especially grammar, punctuation, spelling, Association Press style,
sentence and story clarity. The course will also teach headline writing
skills, page design skills for both tabloid and broadsheet formats using
Quark XPress and Power Macintosh computers heavily as a part of the
course's overall instructional efforts. Students will develop their own
home page for the world wide web as a part of the class final project.
Students must have strong reporting and writing skills before taking this
class, and normally should have
completed J341 or its equivalent prior to enrolling in J351.
