Journalism | Issues in New Communication Technologies
J530 | 6596 | Ogan

Students in this course study the political, economic, social and legal
issues that occur when new media technologies are introduced into a
society. The course begins with a view of the historical role of
technology to provide a perspective on todayUs events. Of special
interest is the scholarly research on the uses of new technology and the
potential effects of new technologies on the structure and practice of
journalism. Since the Internet is having such a profound impact on the
contemporary discussion, much of the reading will be web-related.
