Topic: Hume and Kant

We will discuss Hume's epistemology, and the aspects of Kant's theoretical
philosophy that reveal the main relationships and differences between the
two philosophers. Thus we will pay special, although not exclusive,
attention to Hume's and Kant's views on causality.

Students will be asked to write four short summaries and a final paper, or
to write three short summaries and a final paper, and give a short class
presentation.

Readings will be from Hume's A Treatise of Human Nature and Enquiry
Concerning Human Understanding and Kant's Critique of Pure Reason and
Prolegomena to Any Future Metaphysics.
