This course provides an introduction to classical and quantum
statistical mechanics.  Classical thermodynamics will also be
reviewed and then derived from statistical mechanics.  In addition
to studying ideal gases and black body radiation, we will study
such topics as random electrical noise and the fluctuation-dissipation
theorem.  Finally an introduction to phase transitions in liquids
and magnets will be presented.
