Description: The focus on this course will be on social psychological
theories and studies of interpersonal attraction and intimate
relationships. Topics and theories to be covered include attraction,
liking and love, friendship, heterosexual and homosexual intimate
relationships, human sexuality, marriage, breakups, and divorce. Classes
will consist of a combination of some lectures and a great deal of
discussion and debate. This is an advanced seminar in which the student
will be expected to read original research articles and chapters on the
topics, provide written comments and questions about those readings on a
regular basis, and participate regularly and actively in class
discussions.
