Anthropology | Paleoenvironmental Context of Human Evolution
P399 | 0499 | Sept

This seminar will meet the second 8 weeks of spring semester, and will be
largely driven by class discussion of assigned readings.
As a group we will review the major methods used to reconstruct
paleoenvironments and evaluate how these have been applied to the
reconstruction of early hominid habitats at fossil and archaeological sites
in Africa. We will also discuss how these habitat reconstructions have
contributed to models of early hominid ecology, diet, niche separation,

Grades will be based on class presentations and participation in
discussions, an essay exam, and a research paper (10 p for undergraduates,
20 pp for graduate students). Graduate students will be expected to take
