Fine Arts | Renaissance through Postmodern Art
A102 | 2015 | Taylor
This course surveys Western art -- including paintings, sculptures, architecture, photography
and performance art -- produced between the late 14th Century and the present. Works will be
presented both chronologically and thematically in lectures, and will be described in terms of
media, function, public reception and subject matter. Special emphasis will be placed upon the
way art and artists are affected by the culture in which they live and work.
The requirements for this course are: two short papers, a midterm examination and a
cumulative final examination. Students are also required to register for, attend and participate in a
weekly discussion section.
