Fine Arts | Age of Giants: Art in the Time of Leonardo and Michelangelo
A231 | 2029 | Turner

An introductory survey of a period in Italian art history which produced art forms and ideals that
remained canonical until the modern era: a period that S.J. Freedberg referred to as the most
extraordinary intersection of genius that art has known. As the name suggests, this course will
trace the transition from the Early Renaissance of the 15th century to High Renaissance style in
the
work of Leonardo. The ramifications of Leonardo's advancement will be examined in the work
of contemporary "giants," including Michelangelo, Raphael, and Titian.
