Topic: High Tech Media and the Study of African Art
If we really live in the information age, how do we get information about
African art (or any art) how do we know the information is correct and
how can that information be made to attract our attention and peak our
interest?
If CD-ROMs are better than books, what have we got on CD's about African
Art?
If the web is even better than CD-ROMs, what is out there for those of us
interesting in African art (or any art) how can we use it and how can we
judge its accuracy?
This class will be a hands-on exploration into the world of African art
and culture presented through technology. We will see what people are
doing out there, what's wrong with it, and what's right with it.
Ultimately we will try to answer the question how can technological
resources be used to make more and better information available about
African art and culture, and how can we get regular American citizens
interested in it?
