A beginning class on digital media's role in the world of art production and reception. The class
includes a lecture section and a lab section. The lecture will start with defining the institution of
art and the implication of the use of digital form. Topics on digital imaging, communicative art,
and interactivity are covered throughout the semester. Guest speakers are invited to present their
work and research ranging from multimedia, graphic design, to virtual reality. A technical
demonstration is conducted in each lecture section. Students can practice the basics of
Photoshop, HTML, Director, and Sound Edit in the lab with help from Associate Instructors.
