Topic: Europe in the 20th Century

Topics will include the emergence of mass politics, socialism, the
changing role of women, World War I and its consequences, interwar
society and politics, communism and fascism, the Third Reich and the
Second World War, the Holocaust, postwar reconstruction and division,
Cold War Europe and the collapse of communism.

There will be weekly readings and three papers.

This course is one of two that are required for a minor in modern
European history.
