Labor Studies | Labor and the Economy
L230 | 6685 | Lynn Duggan

This course requires no background in economics--we will learn basic
economics tools and concepts necessary to analyze the political
economy of work and organized labor. Topics covered include
unemployment, costs and benefits of trade, wage inequality,
labor-management cooperation/team production, the growth of service
sector work, and the structure of the US economy compared to European
social democracies. We will examine the effects of all of these on
workers' bargaining power.
