This course focuses on technologies for connecting computers for
communication/telecommunication. A discussion of the differences
between digital and analog transmission is used to introduce the
concept of computer networks. Network components and designs are
compared in terms of performance, reliability, and cost. Communication
protocols and network connectivity are presented in the light of
current standards. Network management is discussed in relation to
technical and economic strengths and security needs.
