Sociology | Sociological Research Practicum 1
S566 | 3710 | Jane McLeod

This course provides hands-on research training to first-year graduate
students in Sociology through the implementation of a sociological
research project. This year's project focuses on adjustment and
transitions to adulthood among foster children. Students in the course
will transcribe focus group interviews with foster children, conduct
telephone interviews with foster children, and assist with a mail
survey of caseworkers. They will also have an opportunity to
contribute to the design of both surveys. Course requirements include
a report on the focus group transcription, the first draft of a
proposal for the Masters paper, and specific hours of work on the
project.
