The course meets MWF from 1:25P-2:15P in BH 331 along with G518
Readings in Greek Epic.

This course is an introduction to the Homeric Poems.  Students will
read three books of the Odyssey in Greek, part of the Homeric Hymn to
Demeter, and Lord's book. The instructor will lecture once a week on
the epic dialect and meter, the Parry-Lord theory of oral poetry,
Homer's use of legend and folktale, and other Homeric topics.  There
will  be three exams.
