C334 Current Topics in Communication and Culture: The Rhetoric of
Theatre Criticism (3 hrs)

Students will learn to: construct an "audience"/readership; develop
rhetorical objectives and strategies; and adapt the writing to
newspaper style and other constraints.  Reviews of 4 IU Theatre
productions and 1 Bloomington Playwrights Project production will
produce 3,750 words of the 5000-word Intensive Writing requirement.
The reviews will be written in the same time frame required for
actual publication and, at a specified time, each student will e-mail
her/his review to the instructor and all other students.  Students
MUST have the following weekends available for simultaneous writing --
Feb. 2-3, Feb. 23-24, Mar. 23-24, Mar. 30-31, Apr. 13-14.
