Traditional Arts Indiana (TAI), a statewide partnership with the
Indiana Arts Commission. Students will read two books and selected
articles in applied folklore, but their primary commitment will be to
apply their areas of research or professional interest to produce
products that expand public awareness of Indiana's traditional arts
and musics (for example, field documentation, publicity/PR, K-12
lesson plan, CD, slide show, video clip, exhibit plan).
Readings: Michael Owens Jones, Putting Folklore to Use; Bauman,
Sawin, Carpenter, Reflections of a Folklife Festival; selected
articles on public and applied folklore.
Fulfills a COAS Social and Historical Studies, Social Inquiry
requirement.
